MUSEUM EXHIBIT DESIGNER
Establish direction and creative design of all exhibit components. Coordinates all aspects of exhibits department including budget, fabrication, installation and maintenance, de-installation of exhibit components, graphic design and production of signage and labels. Supervises staff assigned to exhibits department, including interns, volunteers and consultants. Designed and developed traveling exhibition programs. Interfaced with curatorial, development and marketing departments to communicate exhibit goals and issues, and procure grants and funding. Communicated with media and marketing to increase community awareness. Sensitive to artifact conservation and ADA issues. In collaboration with other staff, developed and maintained standards of presentation and accessibility for all installations and public spaces. Managed coordination with outside vendors as required by project scope. Worked closely with preparators, evaluators, tradesmen and curators to ensure timely execution of exhibition projects.
CONTRACT MUSEUM EXHIBIT DESIGNER
Also designed exhibits and properties for The Building for Kids in Wisconsin, A civil rights exhibit titled 'Protest, Prayers and Progress" for the Upland History Museum in Greenville, South Carolina, and the Women’s Museum of California. Exhibit Designer for the Fresno Museum of Art and Science for a variety of exhibit and graphic projects including augmenting traveling exhibits such as “Bob the Builder”, and “Horton Hears a Who.” Designed Math exhibit based on Mother Goose for The Children's Museum of Cleveland. Completed conceptual design for West Side Children's Museum that included space planning and structural design of all large components. Contract designer through Impact Communications for the design of 1500 sq. ft. permanent exhibit for NASA Glenn Visitor Center, incorporating various interactive components and artifacts to highlight the scientific concepts and significance of Aero Propulsion. Designed extensive renovation of display areas for the Great Lakes Historical Society, including "Shipwreck", "Navigation" and "Shipbuilding". Designed and detailed interactive component for The Midway Museum in San Diego.
EXHIBIT DESIGNER - TRADE SHOW
Conceptual creative design and rendering of trade show exhibits using custom designed elements and system components. Mastered computer generated renderings for sales presentations in a competitive environment. Designed large format graphics to communicate client’s message and branding. Accompanied marketing consultants on design presentations. Responsibility of all materials, production and services required for the design, fabricating, shipping and assembling trade show exhibits. Communicate with sales, production, vendors and suppliers to manage exhibit construction. Generated production orders and detail drawings for construction and show site assembly. Stay current on cutting edge of trends and styles in the marketplace. Designed trade show exhibits in a freelance capacity for Viatropolis, Skyline, Exhibeo, and World Exhibit Builders.
Taught Design Principals and Technique, Design Communication and History of Styles in a professionally- geared Interior Design Program in Cooper School of Art (Closed 1984) in Cleveland during the years of 1980-1983. Taught in various adult education programs in Cleveland. Received California Teaching Certificate in 2009 to become a substitute teacher.
